Summary: | Revenant sur un article paru en 1986 (The Aim of Augustine's Proof That God Truly Is, International Philosophical Quaterly, 26, p. 53-268, cf. compte-rendu dans R.E.Aug., 33, 1987, p. 376-377), l'A. se propose d'examiner dans quelle mesure le livre II du De lib. arb. est une démonstration de l'existence de Dieu. Il analyse les deux arguments ou principes utilisés par Augustin: celui de subordination et celui de participation, et en conclut 'that the long section of DLA II is not a demonstration of the existence of God and that Augustine himself could hardly have thought tha it was'. |
